WHAT CAN I SPRAY VMs WITH AFTER CLEANUP?

I have done the carb cleanup thingo on my VM22 carbs. Do I need to spray the external surface of the carbs to stop them discolouring and to give them a more shiny appearance. At the present time they are very clean, but are a dull gray colour. Any tips and comments welcome.
    Cheers. Don.

Here is a pic of the carb after dipping. Can it be sprayed with clear lacquer or something.

Frankly Don I happen to know a guy who PAINTED his with no problems. So i dont see why a clear laquer or something would be any different.

Arent they made out of Magnesium? Which would be even softer than aluminum no? Not saying it couldnt be done, but man i would be a bit scared.

I thought they were aluminum. They have cool polishing tips for the Dremmel. Pretty gentle.

Bolt them dern carburators back together and be done with it.

BTW, mine look exactly the same.

That's A nice lookin bike. Dig the polished bits. I just picked up a 650 head and cylinders for my bike. Am looking for pistons now and will have to work out which carbs will fit the 650 head, VMs or CVs.
                      Cheers. Don

You need the CV carbs for a 650 head since the VM intake ports are smaller. Sounds like a fun project. If my bike didn't have such low mileage, I'd do the 650 mod myself.

Yeah, I was surprised about this also. I thought they would come out of the carb dip all clean and shinny and stay that way. I spent a little time yesterday trying to get them looking better. I'd spray a little carb cleaner on them and buff it off. It looked real nice for a while. Today they look just like they did yesterday. I'm over it. I'm going to spend my time fine tuning them instead of making them pretty.

                            Good luck!
