Follie's of the previous owner passed onto me

Well i was checking the left carb out again and come to find out the tard that had it before me not only took the bowl out but BROKE a corner off of it! The top right corner where the screw goes to hole it into place is busted out ( just the bolt hole) Would it be easier to replace the bowl of just replace the carb and go from there

Can you post a picture of it? It maybe possible to fix it with a lump of epoxy putty but obviously the better solution would be a replacement. if you have a local bike wrecker or even repair place you likely could score a replacement. Just wander in with the broken one and see what they may have.

If you can score a set locally or on Fleabay it is good to go with a complete set as you can always use "back-up" parts. You may even find a set that have been cleaned and rebuilt so you can keep yours for backup.

With these old bikes it is good to have a source of spares as many orignal parts are getting harder to find and that's why many of us pick up what we can and when we can ( i.e. parts bike).

If you think you can fix it, slip down to your plumbing supply place and get some plumber's epoxy putty. It comes in a tube and is like kids PlayDo. It is 2 part and you mush it together and form whatever you like out of it. Dries hard like rock in 10 min or so. Shape, file, drill whatever. Great stuff and good to carry in the "toolbox" for on the road repairs.

    Hope this helps abit.

    Cheers,
    Spyug.

Are you saying it's just the bowl that has a corner broken off, or is it the carb body?

If it's just the bowl, post the dimensions of the bowl. Other models might fit, I might have one for you.

yeah its just the bowl. I'll measure tomorrow after class. I have to goto work here in 20 min. Some more that i've concluded. Everyone says to replace the O rings and such, i will most definatly be doing this because there's a vacuum leak between my air box and right side carb or I'll just get 2 K&N pods to clamp on there.

You will need to re-jet if you put pods on it.....

I may have a spare bowl here too off a 34mm CV type.
