      Working on a new write-up, here's a preview

      Hi Mr. frankruz,

First, disconnect the three output wires from your stator. Mine are all yellow but the original Suzuki stator had different colors (1-yellow, 1 blue/white, 1 green/white?). Consider the connectors labeled "A", "B", and "C".

First perform the two continuity tests. The first test will be between the legs of the stator itself. Test for resistance between A-B, B-C, and A-C. I think this measurement should be less than 2 ohms but NOT zero.

Then check each leg - A, B, and C - for continuity to ground. This should show infinite resistance as the stator windings should NOT be shorted to ground.

Finally - and you need a good, fully-charged battery for this - we will measure the AC output of your stator. Again you will measure between the legs; A-B, B-C, A-C. This time set your meter to AC volts, start your motor, rev to about 4000 rpm and you should see close to 65 or 70 volts AC.

Have you checked the DC voltage at the battery terminals while idling and at 4000 rpm?

      Thank you for your indulgence,

      BassCliff

        One more charging system test-battery

On more picture for you Mr. frankruz.

To test the overall charging system, put your meter leads across the battery and check for DC voltage at idle and at 4000 rpm. As you can see, this motorcycle has a charging problem.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

        BassCliff

          Got 'er done

          Hi Mr. frankruz,

OK, I've got a little write-up posted on my website. It's in PDF format so you can download it, save it, and even print it out if you like. I hope it helps.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

          BassCliff
