Paint tips needed

What do you use to restore the white paint on indicators and controls? I'm working on my GPZ as shown, but my GS has similiar issues




I just can't find a delivery system that works without painting half the face

Hi Mr. Big T,

The first thing that comes to mind is to have a rubber stamp made. You may have to totally eliminate the existing text if the fonts don't match up. Or, could a stencil be made? Are those parts still orderable?

They're not stenciled, there are grooves in the plastic that make up the letters. Refilling those grooves is the issue.

Try using a toothpick as a dropper tool. You may even need to use a paper clip or something. Steady hand & patience....

yea just use something small to dab it in there... then if you get it too thick or too much on just have to remove your overflow later on....

You should be able to fill the groove with paint as noted by Salty Dan, and come back after it starts to set up and wipe off the excess using a damp cloth. An acrylic paint would be a good idea since it will be water clean up. That colored plastic material does not like solvents, or alcohol, cracks will form. Keep to water clean up paint and you should be okay.

if you want to fix up the white raised letters, put painters tape over it and cut it out with an exacto knife. then spray LIGHTLY spray some spray paint on it or paint it with some acrylic. thats what i did for the badges on the case covers.

get a very fine detail brush.. it will fill in the groove and then soak up the excess.

I've already tried a toothpick, it's too wide and it's hard to control the amount of paint on it, so I end up with a big blob.

The grooves are only 1-2mm wide. Is there an artists brush that tiny?

You can smear the whole thing with grease, remove what you want to be painted, then paint it. Let it dry, then wipe off the grease.
