    Shock absorber problem?

This may sound a silly question, but here goes,

    I have a GS1100G fitted with a pair of Koni Dial-a-rides,

the problem? theres a knock when i get of the seat and the shocks are fully extended, I know they are rebuildable, and are to good to " throw away ".

    Any advice please. Thanks.

Have them rebuilt? assuming the noise is truly from the shocks.

Good point, because it does seem a loud "knock" , perhaps they might be perished a bit..will check. Thanks.

        Any other theories

Handy link to anyone who owns KONI/IKON shocks, who wants to rebuild them. But it is over here in England.

Yep. Sounds like you have no rebound damping left. To test that, have someone hold the bike upright, then stand behind the bike and push down on the seat and release it quickly. It should not snap up to full extension fast, it should come up in a controlled fashion. If you cannot pull your hands away fast enough or you hear the clunk as the shocks top out, then you have no rebound damping left and it is indeed time to rebuild or replace the shocks.
