    stock weight on carburetor?

Ok .... I was talking to owner of a business called erotic motors express today. We were talking about GS motors and he mentioned something to me I was not able to clarify (I may need to remind some folks I am hearing impaired and I do not always catch everything that is said to me).

He said something like this ....."You really ought to remove the weight on your GS 550 E carbs and cover the hole with plexi glass [something....something] and dude you will have a wicked sweet fast rocking bike...."

Anyone here can muster out what I missed? Is there a tiny weight on these carbs?

I would have asked him to put the crack pipe down, then slowly backed away....

I wonder if maybe he was thinking of the diaphragms as 'weights'.

By removing the slides, you would effectively have full-bore available any time you cracked open the throttle, thereby improving performance.

      Nah, I didn't think so either. 8-[

Sounds like he is talking about removing the slides to open up the throttle bore, then sealing the top with a piece of plexiglass.

I have never heard of this before, and am not really sure that it would work, at least not without some major fiddling and tuning.

That matches pretty much what I heard him say. It was all greek to me.

Eh...wouldnt it bog with the slides removed and you cracked the throttle open?

Yeah, not to mention all the turbulence induced by that empty column where the slide used to be.

His business was in the basement of his home ..... immaculately clean, he had every single Suzuki Manual, Honda manual (the dude had a friggin library), and while I was talking to him, Fex ex showed up for delivery, then UPS.

I told him about my GS 550 E and thatwas when he mentioned the doo hickey plexi glass whatever (I just nodded my head and said "waaaaay coool!") heh :-D

He also was showing me pictures of some lecture he gave on restoring Goldwings.

The guy was very professional. He did say something about sealing a hole with plexi glass after removing the stock weight.

I mean no offence at all in saying this Schweiss, but the [something something] that you didnt hear was likely an important part of whatever it was he was trying to explain. Based on even MY limited knowlege of carburetion, what you DID hear would result in your bike more or less becoming an idling art piece.

                      none taken :-D

hopefully I can ask him again.

From what I gathered ... and the reason I asked here, is that I thought he was talking about the triangular peices of black plastic that look like "spacers" (maybe they are sliders) and removing them, then sealing it with thin plexi glass.

Just thought maybe someone knew what the guy was trying to explain to me.
