Expert Advice please
I have burning oil on my left exhaust. The right three cylinders were about 70 to 80 psi for the compression check. My left cylinder was around 35 psi. After adding a touch of oil into the cylinder and checking the compression once again the pressure jumped up to 85. I'm seeking good advice on what is best to do at this time from people with experience. I assume I will have to pull the engine apart and change the piston rings which will then include the cam gasket, exhaust gaskets and cylinder gaskets.Tags: None

I think you are quite right about taking the engine apart, but while it's apart, you might want to have a machine shop check the bores to see if they are still in spec. If the bores are out-of-round or tapered or just plain worn, you will have to bore them out to the next size, then order pistons and rings to match, so do that before you order new rings.

Does the bike run Ok ? Those readings would make it hard to start As said! Make sure the throttle is wide open when checking. When was the last time the valves were adjusted ?

Are those pressure values in metric units of some sort? Most of us Yanks are only familar with psi when it comes to pressure.Ed
To measure is to know.
