Paint that is safe inside gas tank?

UncleMike is sending me the fuel level sensor I need for my bike (thank you). It's in pretty good shape but has the usual rust a 20 some year old part would. What kind of paint can I use that won't break down in gasoline to coat parts of it? Also what is safe to paint aside the box casing itself?

I agree to get rid of the rust first. To seal the metal afterward, use some POR15 gas tank sealer paint. http://www.por15.com/prodinfo.asp?grp=TS&dept=12

I was going to soak the part in Evaporust to remove the rust first and then topcoat with POR. But I only have "normal" POR. I wonder if that's gas proof. Does that sound like a plan?

I'd use the gas tank paint. Loose paint flakes in the gas tank wouldn't be good.

Why paint it at all?
They don't rust if gas is kept in them and they don't sit for months.
