Where is the power curve? Any specs ?

Hi.. I just went and bought new edition of I believe "cycle world" or one of these and tehre was interesting article on how everyone should know the power curve for their bike and all. This brings me to interesting question.

Where would I find such thing? There should be some sort of the listing. Switching gears at right RPM will put less stress on engine, it makes it more fuel efficient and blah blah blah...

not to mention getting you go faster....


Is there a place where I could find such charts for my '83 gs550l ?

you can find those charts in some magazine road test, look in old book stores, yard/garage sales, and best of all, at motorcycle swap meets.
I picked up several vintage issues at a antique bike show and swap meet, I don't have one with a article on your bike, but do have a couple on 550's.

You will find the powercurve is located behind the RH sidepanel. I always carry an extra powercurve in my toolkit in case I encounter a very steep hill.

The power curve is the performance of the bike as seen on a dyno chart, it is really only another way of saying know where max. torque and max. hp are produced by your motor. there are two ways to do this the best way is to run the bike on a dyno and have a look, the way most of us non dyno equipped people use is "feel" !!! You know when your bike feels that it is running best, it "feels" best then.

Your bike should perform better, since it is probably a 16 valve type.
