    getting new keys

Here's the bone head play of the year: I managed to lose the only key I had for my GS550. It's an '85. Other than bringing in the ignition to a locksmith, anyone know how to get a new key made? Is there a code somewhere?

Also, has anyone ever removed an ignition switch? Is it hard to do? Tips?

    Help please,

    jwarren

I know JC Whitney sells an aftermarket ignition switch and key for around $10. It should fit into the stock ignition housing, but call to find out for sure. If I'm not mistaken, you have to remove all of the guages to get at the ignition. That could be a pain! Try retracing your steps carefully!!!!!

I saw the ignition switch advertised in JC whitney for $24.99. It has a column lock on it too. The ignition isn't hard to get too after you remove the headlight and guages. Its really not that bad.
