    which petcock?

I have a 1980 gs550e that I am rebuilding and during this process, I have ummm, misplaced (read lost) my petcock. I am having a difficult time finding the right one to replace it with. Which one do I need?

    It ain't cheap

    #1 Fuel Cock Assembly= 44300-49172
    #2 O-ring= 44348-49170
    #3 Bolt= 09128-06006 (2 req)
    #4 Gasket= 09168-06010 (2 req)

Wow, #1 is about $84 from www.alpha-sports.com. You might be able to find it cheaper or use an aftermarket petcock (Pingle?).

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

84 bucks seems kinda steep!!! I just found Bike bandit and they are 80 also?!

Why are they so high for this year? Would any other sizes fit?

Oh, I don't know. You'll only need the one for the next 25 years or so. Why not get the real thing and be done with it? Any other solution could give you grief.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

Probably find an aftermarket for 50 (Z1), but some validity to BC's point as well.

Flatout has them for less. Shipping is not fast and communication is not great but if you are not in a hurry they do OK. I have used them and even with sales tax they are usually the cheapest on parts.
