Need source for tail pipe/muffler
The rear right muffler on my '79 GS1000 is munged up. I don't want to replace the whole system since the bike runs too darn good and I don't feel like messing with jetting. It is perfect with the stock exhaust. Is there a source for this? Does anyone make a pattern part copy? I've been watching ebay but have been surprised at how little there is for the GS compared to my CB.Tags: None

They do come up on Ebay sometimes,. Another proven alternative is some Hardly mufflers & a little welding.

How about grafting on some replica Dunstall mufflers? http://motors.shop.ebay.com/items/du...Q_nkwZdunstallEd
To measure is to know.

No, I don't know Fred. I ride through Placid quite a bit. I was there the other day at T Hoffman automotive getting my bike inspected. The River road and Notch is a nice little ride.

If you call your local motorcycle yard they will probably have them. They are universal so are popular with several makes.

Check Bike Bandit or Alpha Sports, it shows they are now available. If all you need is one side it should be cheaper to do that than most other solutions. Unless of course if you can score some stock Harley take offs.'84 GS750EF (Oct 2015 BOM) '79 GS1000N (June 2007 BOM) My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/soates50/

So would you actually cut the old pipe off behind the collector and then clamp the new one to that?

Here's link a to someone who has done it on a GS1000. If you need it to be stock, don't want spend a bunch of money and like the balanced look of 2 mufflers this could be the way to go. They look pretty good too.

Thanks for that...I thin that is the route I want to go. I like the 4 into 2 look for this bike. Prob use the dunstall reps. Unfortunately I don't have a welder or any welding experience. Wondering if there is a non welded alternative.
