    Help Clutch Wont Engage

SO i go to get on the bike today and turn it on i go to engage the clutch and start off and let go of the clutch handle and nothing. it seems to jump a little but does not engage, what could be wrong. I am totally a rookie and the guy i bought it from just replaced the clutch, my buddy dosent think its the cable.

    the bike is a 81 gs650glx

    i wannnnnnnnnna ride!!!!!!

take the cable end off at the crankcase, spin the knob counter-clockwise until it stops, put the end back on and adjust the cable using the screw and locknuts until there is 2-3mm play at the lever.

its not the adjustment, it is adjusted correctly according to Clymer. Took off the cover and took out all of the clutch plates as well as fibers and everything looks pretty good <last owner rebuilt clutch a year ago> nothing really worn, springs seem tight as well. Put it all back together left the case off and had her in 1st gear <nothing was on> and was able to move forward and backwards.

What gives? next thought is to pull the engine and take it all apart....

      What do you think...

Couple of 650 guys here posted about how their secondary drive gear sheared off. Not sure about the details but you might want to check it out.

AS you found out forget the clutch.. Either the rear wheel spline adapter is worn out or the secondary gear set is broken

You don't even know what is wrong yet. No way to estimate repair cost yet.

                    Curious sentence structure.
and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

the sentence structure was due to a new wireless keyboard and mouse apparently i type too fast for it so this is me slowing down, better? LOL

Anyhow i was looking for suggestions of what may be wrong or "what to look for" as you assisted me with above.

We are going to rip this thing apart and see what the problem is. Just in case i just purchased a complete secondary set a swell as a shaft. Like i said, just in case.

so i pull off the rear wheel to look to see if it is any of the secondary drive while it was still on the bike and as far as i can see nothing is wrong with that. Looks like i have to find someone to pull the motor.

                          Anyone know a good mechanic?

I just posted on other thread,,, since the wheel is off Remove the splined wheel adapter from the wheel & take a close look THERE is no reason at this point to remove the engine, Ok?? Pull the swing arm & check the secondary gear set
