Carb Adjustment help
I'm working on a 1981 GS850G after cleaning the carbs and reinstalling them I can't rev the engine up. The bike will start and run but when I try to rev it up it just falls flat. I don't have any air cleaners on the carbs yet. Does it make a differance? Also I want to use after market air cleaners or should I stay with the stock air box?Tags: None

YES, it make a difference. :shock:
It will be easiest it you keep the stock airbox. If you change to pods, you may have to re-jet the carbs, which can open a new can of worms. Personally, I am not sure that the inconveniences of installing the pods and re-jetting the carbs will offset any potential gain in power. Yeah, there are those that say that removing the carbs is SO much easier with pods, but realistically speaking, just how often do you remove the carbs?

fuel supply
check if fuel is coming thru.
how does it die out...it could die out for both reasons - flooding or starving.
When its dying out - pull the choke -
if it helps to increase the rpm - its because of fuel starvation (blocked jets, float height setting etc)
If it dies out - there is no fuel supply
