    GS650G exhaust 'shrouds' question...

Rode bike a bit harder than normal on way home from bike shop this afternoon. By 'harder' I mean higher revs through about 8500-. Notice a rattle at the higher RPMs and on inspection after getting home, seems my right side exhaust shroud (chrome cover mounted over exhaust') was loose. Checked bracket and seems no screw is there.....

but then checked on the other side and same deal...no screw...

    Does anyone know:

    a) is there supposed to be a screw in this hole?
    b) what size is it? 6mm?

    Thanks (pics to follow).

You are actually missing 2 screws per muffler. Alphasports shows a screw and lockwasher for each hole. I can't remember if 5 or 6 mm and fairly short, possibly 10 mm in length; I know they don't come out easy though. BTW some one replaced your rectifier/regulator with aftermarket, most likely an improvement.

        good eye!

I've replaced that regulator twice with aftermarkets from Electrosport!

Now to shore up my exhausts.....

I had one of those postage stamp sized RRs on my bike once.

          Once.........

I used loktite on my screws since there really is no need to remove that shield and you don't want it falling off. Most are NLA from the dealer.
