Can gas come out the valve breather?

77 GS750B. Had trouble a while back with gas getting in the crankcase. Rebuilt carbs (the right way) and replaced petcock. No more trouble with the crankcase filling up (actually the opposite but that will be a different post).

I have K&N pod filters installed by the PO. Looks like the original breather hose and it just hangs above the carb rack. I noticed on long rides that stuff would drip out of this hose, land on the hot crankcase, and stink...a little like gas.

I attached this little bottle to the frame and put the valve cover breather hose in it (pics below). It has been on here about 2000 miles now and has a few ounces of foamy, milky, stuff that smells a little of gas.

I guess the big questions here are: 1) Is this bad? and 2) What should I do?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    gbw

Hmmmmm...Not sure what you've "refined" there but don't let your cat near it!
No need to worry, it's actually just crankcase vapors (and some moisture) that have condensed in the bottle. Who knows, it could be quite tasty on a cracker \\/ NOT

I think I agree that much in 2000 miles not an issue. Mine routes back by the rear wheel to a filter so I don't get to see it in a collected mess like that.

Are you sure you didn't urinate in that bottle instead? Just remember that the breather is there to release vapors like that. Never seen them build up before though. Mine doesn't have a collector on it like that.

Thanks. I feel a lot better now. I'll just keep an eye on it so it doesn't run over.
