Powder coating can look very nice on your block and head + it's just about the toughest finish. Absolutely key to getting a proper job, and beware places that powder coat garden furniture, is that every last bit of blasting grit is cleaned out (if it isn't, in 5 minutes you'll have knackered motor) and that they only powder coat the bits that you want coated i.e. none of the insides or gasket surfaces.

I've done a couple of motors, frames and the trick is to put something in all the bolt holes and if your doing the head, bolt on the valve cover and for sure talk to the person thats doing it and make sure he's gonna do you a good job. Powder coating is hard to clean up after.

Too thick and too hot. Why not just paint it with PJI or VHT paint? Try VHT Universal aluminium paint.

Mine has been done for 8 yrs and not one sign of trouble.

I did a bicycle frame in powdercoat last fall. Toughest finish I ever saw, dropped a wrench from great distance on it and not even a dent. I had to file it away to get the seatpost pin in.
