Can anyone tell me if a regulator from another model bike will work for an 1100gl... I have seen many for modern bikes that look similar but am not sure.....dont want to wast money if not going to work.. Thanks in advanceTags: None

You can cross reference RRs on the electrex site. So, yes you can get other bikes RRs to work. You'll want one that matches your GS or a RR that matches any GS as well as a bike with a high current draw like a goldwing.
The biggest problem will be finding a place to put the RR if it is larger than your current one.

Go to the Tips & Tricks section and look under regulator modification.
A lot of times the only difference is the wiring plug/connectors. Early Goldwings used seperate reg and rect

my gs 1000e had seperate reg/ rec units.
i replaced them with a combined reg/ rec unit from a cb250n, bolts straight on no messing and works fine

well i found one for a suzuki quad 230.. it looks the same but Im not sure if it will work....anyone know any backround?[/img]

btw im not reall concerned about the connectors as the on on my bike is melted.. i am just going to ise a bullet style termination.......thanks for the look

If you find one that works for your bike, do yourself a favour and solder the connections. :twisted:
