    5/100 of a volt draw on R/R lead?

    I have the fore mentioned draw on the hot lead from the fuze box to the R/R. Is the R/R toast? I think my 82 1100G is begging to be rewired. :roll: This is the second small drain I found today. Thanks, Bill

    5/100th of a volt (.05v) or .05amp????
    that is a very small drain, are you sure? what are you using to measure this?

        What setting are you using to determine the voltage through the R/R?

        I have a decent multifunction meter, and was using the stator papers to check Carmen's bike, but the meter did not have the setting described to check voltage through the R/R.

        There is no question the R/R is shot as part of the wiring burned between the stator and R/R, but the best I could do was check for continuity in both directions, which the diode should not allow, but did.

          On the cheap digital it reads to the 100ths on the 20V setting. On my old Craftsman analog it has a setting for .25V range. I found when I went back to make sure I had got it right, the analog meter was reading the 5/100ths of a volt loss thru my fingers that were holding the lead and wire together. And I suspect the cheap digital is part of the problem, not the solution. I am working on getting another digital. Bill

            it would indicate a very small short to ground id say. When you meter is not connected does it read zero. then when you connect it if if goes from zero to anytrhing, i would suspect a very small drain somewhere.
