    Brake pad question

Pricing new pads for my '79 850, and noticced there are 2 different kinds, smaller round ones, and square ones. Bike bandit says the square ones fit my bike, found some on e-bay that are much cheaper but they are totally different. Don't want to order the wrong ones, any clues anyone. BTW, i know it would be easiest to just look at the pads, but I don't have that opportunity at this moment, so i'm askin youse guys! Thanks in advance!

I think I answered my own question, the round are front and the square are rear? Am I that slow? (no pun intended)

Round are earlier models. I don't remember the exact year (probably 79) that they went to the rectangular pads. I run EBC organic which seems to be the best organic. Sintered stop better but are harder on the rotors and may may lock too easily on the rear.

        Hi Mr. C.V.,

On my bike I use the EBC organic pads (non-sintered), FA36 for the rear and FA51 for the front.

Oh, wait. The '79 is different. FA35 for the front.

Brake pads are also made from Kevlar, but I've never tried them.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

        BassCliff

If you buy off Ebay, be aware the GS1000 while they look the same are different the locating tab is larger on the 850 SO check the application CHeck with this site see if he has them
