    Measuring CAM Chain - GS1000G 80

Anyone have a copy of the page (I assume it's in the Suzuki manual) that tells you how to measure the cam chain to see if it's past it's limit??

I have two clymer editions & neither of them give you any info past counting the 20 pins between the two arrows (which is fine on my bike, they appear to line up perfectly).

    Thanks,

    Dan

Dan i have something at home in the 1100G shop manual. I dont know off hand but it shows that you simply measure a link or two (probably a few just to get a median idea) both width and length for stretch. I will find it, as it SHOULD be pretty close to the same for the 1000 and PM the info to you this evening

That's what I'm looking for... I know a few people have the shop manual so it would be great if someone could post or email me the page.

I have a new chain but not the tool yet (it's 50 bucks) so need to know if I should go get one quick to get this done before Yosemite. The G is off the road right now as I'm prepping it for Yosemite & I want to get some miles on the Skunk to make sure that is 100% too..

      Cheers,

      Dan

No need... Thanks for the offer though. In lieu of having the specs I compared it with the new chain I already bought & it's less than 1mm of stretch over 20 links, I find it hard to believe that's out of spec so I'm going to leave well alone.

          Thanks again for the offer!

          Cheers,
          Dan

P.s. the ride is going to be used for a proper shakedown for the skunk....
