    Head Torque Specs

    Hello,

I have a 1980 GS550. As part of the valve clearance checking and adjustment process, my Clymer's manual tells me I need to re-torque the head. Whether or not it is necessary, it has been a very long time since either procedure has been done. But, the book does not list the torque spec for the head nuts and I can not find that spec. Anyone here now what that spec is? Thanks for your help

    Mike

Yhe book WILL have an area that has all of the torque specs. It will probably be listed as a "table". Ray.

Back each bolt out a little and take them back in to thirty pounds.

Steady On With That Tension Wrench

          STEADY ON WITH THAT TENSION WRENCH. It's a 550 we're working on here. Not a 1000. The 6mm head bolts are 5 to 8 lb-ft. The 8mm head nuts are 16.5 to 19.5 lb-ft.

          Hope this helps

          Cheers Don
