    '83 GS750ES Service Manual.

Does anyone have one that I can download? Thanks!

Try this site http://www.knucklebusterinc.com/features/category/tech/. I use it for my '81 "L" model, it works for the most part. I had a hell of a time printing it off front and back. if that link doesn't work go to http://www.knucklebusterinc.com/ and at the top there is a tab for tech docs.

Basically, I want to know whether the alternator is on the brake or gearshift side of the engine.

It is on the gearshift side. Or you could just go outside and look at your bike.
          Don.

            GS750E GS750ES shop manual

A nice fellow named Skye has given me a shop manual for the GS750E/ES, the 1983 in particular. CLICK HERE to download it. I'll put a link on my website as soon as I get a chance.

Actually, you might want to right-click and "Save as", then open it after it downloads.

            Thank you for your indulgence,

            BassCliff

Take out everything before the www. and the link works. It didn't work for me as posted.

Thank you, BassCliff, for hosting all these docs. Very kind of you! This is a MUCH better copy of the manual than the .pdf I found a few years ago.

Oops, sorry. I think I fixed the link. I had too much junk in my clipboard when I did my copy/paste.

Good thing he did not suggest trying that with my Kaw Voyager 1300.

There was a stator on BOTH ends of the crank.
