master cylinder oring replacement ?
I need to replace the o ring for my master cylinder resevior. How do I separate the resevior from the housing assembly. I am going to rebuild the master cylinder assembly and I want to replace the oring under the resevior but I don't see how it comes apart. Please help.Tags: None

There are 2 phillips screws at the bottom of the MC reservoir. Remove these and pull off the plastic reservoir. Sometimes they can become alsmost welded in with dried out brake fluid so you'll have to pull like 'ell and twist at the same time - use a thick rubber band wrapped around the outside to get some grip. If that doesn't shift it try and very, very carefully pry the thing up with a thin blade screwdriver.79 GS1000S

If it is the M/C with the seperate white resrvoir that holds the lid on with 4 screws in the corner, you just have to lever it with a screwdriver. It has quite a tight circular fit into the metal part.

Screw(s) hold the cap on the M/C. Wiggle it back and forth until it breaks free. Mine came off and it was on there for almost thirty years.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
