    microfiche for GS 850 GLT

Hi, I'm looking to order some bits from the USA for my GS, specifically front and back caliper seal kits, front and back master cylinder seal kits, top end gasket set, valve guide seals etc. The bike's running fine at the minute, but I plan to do a major job on it at the end of summer, and I want to have everything to hand before I start pulling bits off it. Can anyone help me? Who are the best people to order from in the USA, and can anyone email or post a microfiche for the same model to identify part numbers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great forum.
    Guy.

    Guy,

You may be able to get a parts fische on CD. (somebody sent me a site that did them, but it didn't list my bike) but if not, I have every fische card for every Suzy built between 1972 and 1988, and I can print off an A4 size parts manual (normally about 100 pages) for $30.00 US including airmail postage from here in Australia. Let me know if you'd like one.

    Cheers,

    Terry.

      Thanks terry,
but I don't need the full 100 pages. I only need the part numbers for the items I mentioned. I can't find anyone here in Ireland selling these bits and I'd appreciate any info on where I can order them from.
      Thanks,
      Guy.

Others on this site have recommended www.bikebandit.com to me as a place where you can enter your year/make/ model ectera and display the microfishe. Can not just click on the part number to order (like they do at dealer) but you can write down partnumber or print out portions of picture (printscreen, paste into Paint, then print). You enter in part number, it gives you price (but not availabity) then you can put in shopping cart and order. You have to register to order, but I think you can look without registering. I just placed my first order last night, so thats all the more I can comment, but others on this GSResouce have recommended it to me when I asked about parts. Was certainly easier than trying to talk to kid at dealership.
Also, from time to time you may find someone selling microfishe on e-bay. I have and can view (and print) it at library in geneology/newspaper archive section. But I now have less of a need for it now that I have used BikeBandit.

You didnt specifally list the camchain tensioner o-rings / oil seals, but if you do need those (oil dripping from) you may benifit from looking at yesterdays posting relative to that. The microfische for 80-81-82 is incorrect/incomplete for those parts. It was recommended to me to use the microfische for 83 GL which is more complete/correct for the cam chain tensioner o-rings and oilseal.
Also I didnt realize that my camchain tensioner was leaking untill after I replaced the head gasket which was the major contributer to the oil slobbering.

Check www.RonAyers.com as well for NOS parts. They don't have the on-line lookup but evertything I've ever checked there has been cheaper at RonAyers. I use BikeBandit to get part numbers (if the fiche is readable) then order from RonAyers.
