    Fork seals at engineering supplies??

    Hi,
I have pulled my GS1000G forks and intend replacing the oil. There are no leaks, but thought I might as well replace the seals seeing I am halfway there.
Does anyone know if the seals are available as standard stock from the usual engineering bearing and seal supplier? Or is it only made by Suzuki?
I have been given sizes 37 x 49 x 8/9.5. I do not want to disassemble to get a sample to show them before I know this.
Or can anyone post a closeup picture of the fork seals.

    Thanks a lot.

    did it the other day

i got mine from a local bike store
    also available on ebay

never thought they might be readily available in a bearings shop

as for the measurements, i have saved and old one just for reference, but it was slightly different in design to what was on the bike, so i guess they are not all the same
can check the measurements if you like, but the seal is a bit chopped from taking it out of the forks

      psyguy,
Would you mind checking if there is any number inscribed on the old seal. Usually that gives an indication when purchasing a generic one.
      Much appreciated.

the seal is preaty buggered but the numbers i could read are
        kyb 114 13371 01503 2 1 S 37-49
        hope this helps

and if it does, i wouldnt mind knowing what these numbers mean
i figured the 37-49 are the inner/outer diameter measurements in mm

Thanks, I have since browsed and found that these are called wiper seals. It seems as if yours is the same size as mine. 37 ID, 49 OD and 8/9.5 Width in mm. It seems as if the design of the inner scraper part is important. I just cannot see on the photo exactly which type is used. I do not want to pull mine untill I am sure they are available here.
Thanks, armed with your number I will see what they have here tommorrow.

thats where the old and the new seals differ in my case
the new ones have two elastic rings, one on each side of the seal, so there are two "lips" under tension from those rings that scrape the oil
the old seals had only one such lip

I may have to order from the USA. Nothing stocked here and the OEM is very very expensive.

Just ordered from Pyramid parts, very reasonable price and international shipping costs as well.
