    '83 GS1100ED Rouge Part - Where's It Go?

Hi guys! I'm currently rebuilding the motor for a GS1100ED my dad gave me

I was buttoning up the top end when I noticed an extra part in the ziplock bag, It's painted so I assume it goes on the outside of the motor somewhere but I can't find any reference of the part in the manual or on bikebandit.

Anyone have a clue what it's for and where it goes? I really hope it doesn't go inside the head somewhere!

    Thanks fellas!

Almost looks like a rotor puller, or a puller of some sort. I dunno off hand where in the motor that would go either.

Have you got 4 of them???

Possibly a 'Plug cylinder head'? 09241-23002. They normaly have a flat bottom with a nut and go on the ends of the cylinder head studs to do them up.

There's no other part like that inside one of the GS(X)1100 engines. Looks a bit odd for a puller also.

Well, the stator rotor puller looks similar to that. But, not exactly. Looking at it more, and with no real size reference, those kinda look like spark plug threads on the end there. I wonder if thats part of a colourtune or something?

No sir, just one. A quick google on that part# and they look to be the rubber half moon cam plugs.

If it helps the part is about 2" long and 1/8th inch in diameter. I think the pictures I took make it look bigger then it is, sorry about that.

Can you post a picture of it against a spark plug, please.

I don't use colour tunes so I have no reference.

The threads look a bit big for standard metric for spark plugs etc.

LOL Id say made it look alot bigger..Hrmm 2 inches long and a 1/8 inch in diameter...Lord it could go anywhere or nowhere being THAT small. And nothing on the fiches that looked like that? Im trying to think of something somewhere on a bike that would be threaded male on one side and female on the other.

Oh oh oh...check the fiche for the mirrors...

                Arhh.

I see my mistake. In my workshop parts book for the EZ/ED/ESD the number 27 is above the part I was looking at. Sorry.

Its actualy 09159-10029 and down as 'Nut.' And yes, there are still 4 of them. (Don't forget that I'm in the UK so soem part numbers are slightly different so I have found out.)

Do you use these people for part microfiche?

Those are the cylinder head nuts, I've already got all of those torqued down.

                  Heres the picture you requested,

TheCafeKid, I don't think it's for the mirrors since they have never been removed from the bike.

I've haven't been able to find a microfiche with the suzuki part #'s thanks for that link Suzuki Mad, bookmarked.

Well i was thinking maybe it might have been one of the isolators they used on the mirrors. Guess not. It looks to have had some threadlock on it at one point. And those threads STILL look like spark plug hole threads to me, even more so now that you have one next to it.

I will have to hold my hands up and say 'I don't know.'

Not a part i've seen inside one of these engines and I've had a few part in my time.

The thread of the unknow 'part' is similar to that of the spark plug. Have you googled colour tune and had a look?

I agree, i think its part of a colourtune or similar tap. Likely there would be a tube or what not that screws into the top side there, and then the sight glass or whatever to see down into the chamber without burning your face off on the motor

I'm not In the know about alot of thing's when it comes to bikes. I wasn't sure what a colour tune was until Cafe's explanation.

I went out to see if it would thread into one of the spark plug holes and its just small enough that it will freely go through the hole without turning it.

I've looked over the head and can't seem to spot any place it could thread in.

The tach gears haven't been removed from the cover so it can't be from that. Hmmm

I really do appreciate all of your help so far with this issue guys!:-)
