Mine has a storied backeground, but suffuce to say...... I rebuilt my 80 GS1100's carb and found that I could not remove 3 of the air/fuel mixture screws so I took it to a mechanic that has otherwise done a real good job for me, and he destroyed the 3 carbs trying to get the screws out, one has no threads left, 2 have easy out parts imbedded in them, and the fourth was the one I was able to get the screw out from in the first place. So I bought a set off of ebay for 75 bucks and it took me two full days to get them clean. The gas in them have gone past jelly to some kind of tartar or plaque like cementish alloy. I used all the parts I had put into my other set and everything seemed right with them.
I put them on the bike and after a couple minutes of coaxing, the bike fired and sounded great, a little high on the RPM, but stron real strong.
Then gas started coming out of the side of left side outer carb.
I looked at my old set and it looks the same to me. Is this a common issue of me forgetting to do something? Is there suppose to be a plug in there? Here is a picture of the problem carb. Sorry the quality isn't a bit better, this camera phone takes better, but only sometimes.
