WTB MOTORCYCLE TIRES - looking for tires Help

Need help in deciding what type of tire I should use.
My local dealers are trying to sell me the Dunlops D404.
I do not know anything about tires .
I would not mind spending alittle more for maybe a better quality tire.
I would appreciate any advise on tire make and model noting that I believe the front and rear tires should be the same model and make.

Need tires for 1996 Suzuki Intruder 800cc - front tire 80/90-21, rear tire 140/90-15.

Please contact Mel email address melalice2002@yahoo.com
    Thanks

I was going to suggest the Cheng Shin Hi-Max, but apparently they are not available in those sizes.

Take a look at the Tires Unlimited web site. Scroll down the left column, you will see a "Search Web Site" button. Click on it and enter 80/90H21 in the search parameter window. There are several hits that come up, just about any of them will be better than the Dunlop 404s. I saw Avon Venom X in the list, Metzeler ME880, Bridgestone Battlax BT45, many others, just be sure to hit the "Next 15 Mataches" button to see more. When you look at the page for the tires, you can also see if they carry a rear tire to match the front.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time on the VX but it had the 404's and was an ok ride. I would personally buy BT45's or Venoms.

Oh and this may sound like an odd question but is there any way you could post a picture of your front wheel with the speedometer drive in the shot? One of my customers had a tire changed and the speedo cable broke when he brought it to me to do a fluids change. I replaced the speedo cable but it was really tight and it broke about 15 minutes after he left my shop. I think the dealership put the speedometer cable drive on wrong when they changed the tire...but NO ONE can show me a picture of how it's supposed to be...

I like the GT501s more than the BT45s. They last a little longer and are about the same holding the road.

In my opinion, ANYTHING BUT DUNLOP !!! A Buddy just replaced a D404 yesterday. Didn't last, nothing special about the grip, not cheap.

You can buy cheap Dunlops or good Dunlops.

404's are the "cheap Dunlops". Serviceable but wear fast.

hmmm. I just got Dunlop 404's. I like the way they ride compared to the kenda challegers I replaced. The kenda tires were poor in the runout dept. and they made the bike hard to lean into turns. I just got the dunlops put on and the bike leans into turns way better and grip seems to suffice for my level of riding. Also the bike rides way smoother compared to the poor quality kenda tires.

The 21" front tire limites your choices a lot!!! Look up Pirelli MT 66 $57.99 fr $75.99 rear www.denniskirk.com
another option Might want to up size 90/90/21 front
