    Having trouble with clutch cover

Hope some can answer my question . I have an 82 gs650g and I am having trouble getting the clutch cover to seat all the way so I can bolt it back on any help appreciated.

There should be a couple of locating pins in the cover, or they might be stuck to the engine case. They have to be lined up precisely. Another possibility is the clutch release mechanism is not quite in the right spot. It has been a while since I had the cover off my son's 650, so I don't remember what the trick was.

That could be it. Note that the shaft has a flat spot on it that has to align with the flat spot in the in the hole on the cover. If they dont line up just turn the shaft so they do.

Does the 650 have the helix action which pushes the rod similar to a 550? If so, it sounds like you have the helix indexed incorrectly. Remove it and try again.

EDIT: Disregard this comment - just figured out the 650 does not use the same clutch mechanism as the 550. Sorry about the false alarm.
