i know that says it is the stripped splines but i honestly dont want to tear my bike down just to have it sit for a week while the parts are coming. not saying i wanna rush and get it done, but my bike is stored outside and i would like to be able to fix the snafu in one shot and be done with it so nothing gets contaminated by dirt or water.

not like its that hard to pull the rear wheel off but if i can fix it then and there i would prefer that over having to wait and do it.

You might as well. It dont sound like its really rideable. When you order your parts Id get a Bike cover too.

yeah i got an all season cover from classic i think the company is, its a really nice cover. got from wal-mart online

          edit**

ok so i tinkered a bit this morning i cannot stop the driveshaft from turning by hand when i roll the wheel by hand, the engine definitely turns over when in gear when i roll the wheel by hand, lots of resistance versus neutral.

So what's your question at this point? Still not sure what the problem is? Several knowledgeable people here suggest pulling the rear wheel and inspecting the splines. This is the next logical step... Check this link on how to pull the rear wheel http://members.dslextreme.com/users/...el_removal.pdf

ok replaced my clutch pack and springs. and as i suspected 3 of the clutches where down to bare metal and the rest were around 50-75% worn.

just gotta get some good oil and be on my way

Did he say he soaked the fibers in oil before he put them in ?
