Dyna S & Relay Mod
I just realized the PO already put a Dyna S ignition and Accel coils on my 78 GS750. I measured the Accels to be 4.5 Ohms.

Have you run it since you did the relay mod?
If it ran, it's probably wired right.
Generally, there should be no difference because of ignition brand. The concept remains the same ... instead of powering the coils with the bike's skinny wires, you use those wires to turn on a relay that then provides battery power through better wires with fewer connections.

As long as you didn't cross-modulate the dilithium crystals in the Dyna coils with the positron plasma feed from the ignition...
(Seriously, there's nothing futuristic or magical about the Dyna parts. They work the same as OEM and the benefits of the coil relay mod will be much the same.)1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I have not bothered with the relay mod yet on either of the 850s that live at this house. I have not yet measured the voltage at the coil, either, but both of them had Accel coils when I got them, and they both start instantly at the push of the starter button. I suspect the Accel coils have something to do with that. I can't imagine the bike starting any quicker, unless it will start itself as I approach it.

Shouldnt my coils be hooked up like this, via the Dyna S Ignition?

Originally posted by doctorgonzo View PostWAY back to the original post, 4.5 is too much resistance on the coils with a Dyna right, should either be 3 or maybe even 1.5 coils for the Dyna.

Interesting... It might be the Dyna 2000 that uses 1.5. I was under the (maybe wrong) impression that electronic ignition you wanted 3 ohm and points you wanted 5. My brain is still trying to file the 100,000 things I've learned in here in the past 4 or 5 months.
