Quick cam sprocket question

Im rebuilding my 79 GS1000 motor. Should I keep the nylon pieces on the cam sprockets or discard them.

One side of my brain says, keep them, there on there for a reason, to keep the cam chain quiet.
The other side says, toss them, They will eventually chip away and land in my oil pan.

What do you guys suggest?

What nylon bits are they? All I've ever seen have only been metal only.

Are you referring to the forward and rear chain guides? If you are, I certainly wouldn't discard them.

They are metal gears, But on the sides, there are nylon strips that the side plates of the chain lay on to reduce noise.

Here's picture of 450 cams, Look at the plastic pieces on the side of the sprockets, thats what mine have.
