Would you ride with a lazy slide?

As I mentioned in another post, one of my vacuum slides is "lazy" and does not open as far as the other 3. Bike seems to run good otherwise.

I really want to ride this weekend, but my new slides ($500!!!) are at least a week away.

Would you ride it the way it is? I figure that cylinder can't get too lean, simply because the slide doesn't open very far.

At least the slides have "cut outs", so they pass more than enough air at slower engine speeds.

    Is it the diaphragm?
    If it is, try this:

Life is too short to ride an L.

have you tried taking the cap off and straightening the spring that has coiled up in the top?

hmmm, may have to try that.

I had to patch my old diaphragms, so that's why I ordered replacements. I know some say that have gotten away with it, but I only did it for a temporary fix. I'd feel much better with new diaphragms.

I will definetly check the spring though, thanks!

I did the nitrile glove/cement fix, but since I plan on keeping the bike for at least 2 or 3 years, I went ahead and ordered the diaphragms.
