Here is the pic of the r/r. The black/white wire, (single one on the left) is the one that was connected to the + battery post.

If this is a ground I imagine that would have fried the charging system immediately right?

I will be posting some pics of the bike right after I got it in an appropriate section of the forum, check em out.

Rustybronco, there are some numbers stamped on it, they are as follows.

      4934 RS21
      2GNN 74

The numbers above are stamped on the r/r in the same format as above.

Thanks for all the input folks.

looks like it was used on a few different ones such as a gsx250, check the wiring diagram for that bike and see where the black/white goes.

considering the colors on it for the stator, me thinks a suzuki.
Could be a sense wire, power, who knows.

or if your stator checks out, throw a honda r/r on it and be done with it.

          Cooking with electrons

          Hi Mr. dr_foxg8,

This part looks very similar to a Suzuki OEM part. The black/white wire is definitely the ground wire and should not have been hooked up to the positive battery post. It should be hooked up to the negative battery post. The red wire hooks into the wiring harness and eventually makes its way through the fuse box to the positive terminal of the battery. The other three wires connect to the stator output wires.

Go through the Stator Papers and see what your test results are. If Mr. duaneage has a part for you, it would be a good investment. Keep us informed.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

          BassCliff
