    Gs 550e removing carbs aaarrrgggghh!

Guyswhats the best way to remove the carbs on a 550e? I virtually had to rip them out it seems the air box wont move back far enough to release the carbs.I removed the top air box screws which enabled me to get some clearance I then tilted them back and slid them out the rh side of the bike.
My fear is that when I put them back I will damage the air intake manifolds which leads me onto the next question where can I get new rubber? my are shot out
Lastly is it ok to remove the carb tops to remove the main jet? will removing then damage the vacum diaphrams?
    thanks Roy

Unless your carbs are way different than mine, the main jet is in the bottom, under the float bowl, not in the top, but no, put the diaphragm back in carefully and it's fine to take the top off.

I have a 85 gs 700 and have removed the carbs many times. Each time they are a pain in the arse. The air box only goes back so far and you have to slide the carbs out meanwhile mangling the clamps and boots. It just has to be done.

All I'm going to say is, Pods.
Of course it's probably a good thing they make taking the carbs off and on so easy since you'll have to pull them 5 times to get the jetting right (heh).
