After pulling the airbox off to find out that one of my hoses was in shocking condition ( http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk88/zsilverfox/ pictures there), I saw that there was gas inside the carb tunnels, just before the throttle slider thing is. Is this normal?

Sounds like the carbs are flooded. Time for a complete rebuild with new o-rings inside the carbs and on the rubber carb pipe boots. Check the GSR home page in the Garage section for the rebuild information for VM carbs. Get o-rings from cycleorings.com.
