    tire size converter?

    my gs call for 3.50h-19 and 4.50h-17 tires. what size are these tires in metric sizes please?

    Following the formula of 25.4mm to the inch, the direct sizes would be 88.9 and 114.3mm. Since those sizes do not exist, you would go up to 90 and 120.
    Also nice to know ... since most bike speedometers are rather optimistic, if you go to a 100 size front tire, it will likely correct that inaccuracy.

      likewise most of us use the 100/90-19 front, but use a 130/90-17 rear tire

        why do most of you put a 130 on there? When I bought my gs850 it came with a 140. I'm looking into getting new rubbers before too long. The 140 fits fine but since I had never driven on a 130 just wondering if theres a nice perk I'm missing out on.

          140 is too wide for the rim; narrow GS rim pinches in the sidewall which causes a more rounded contact patch than desired. 130 doesn't have this issue.
