I need some help with this bike.please
    TEST DRIVE
I just got done test driving someone else’s 1996 Suzuki Intruder 800cc.
This other bike has good acceleration and does not pop through the mufflers when deceleration.
I got back to my house and got on my bike, gave it gas in first gear, idles rough, and seems like it is almost half power on acceleration, like it is not giving full power to the engine.
Almost like something is stopping the full power coming through.
The engine is reving up but not delivering full power and not smooth.
Any ideas of what could be causing this?
Some people say that they use Sea Foam .
Do you put it directly into the gas tank?
If so, on a 3 gallon tank, how much do you use?
Or how else would you use Sea Foam?

I would appreciate any suggestions regarding this problem.
    Thanks,
    Mel

its a newer bike? Fuel injected?

sounds electrical if its fuel injected

if its carbed, who knows where to start

My suggestion is to do maintenance on your bike. Carb o-rings get old and hard - thus leak, intake boots and their o-rings get old and hard, carbs need to be synced, valves need to be adjusted, plugs and air filter cleaned/changed, etc. Until you bring everything up to proper condition it's very hard to know where to start.

      To measure is to know.

        Need Help!!

        Hi,

I have been working on the 1996 Suzuki 800cc today.
I removed the spark plugs and found that they each look totally different than each other.
Picture is enclosed. I do not know how to insert a picture in this thread.
One plug looks like new and the other plug looks darker.
Plugs have 100 miles on them
I am using the recommended DPR 8EA-9
I checked each spark plug by grounding it out and looking for a spark.
Both sides had spark across the gap.
I re-gapped it at .30 gap and re installed the right and left side and made sure that the cap and the plug were screwed all of the way down and the cap was on tight.
I took it for a ride and found no improvement.
It seems like it is vibrating and like running on one plug/cylinder.
When I was riding I stopped and the plug that was new looking left side rear carb cyclinder I pulled out the cap from the plug [clean looking ] and the bike died.
Spark is getting to both cylinders it looks like but the bike runs like on one cylinder.
        It vibrates and lacks power.
Need your expertise on this matter.
        Please help.
        Your friend,
        Mel

I've got a '97 VZ800 Marauder that is essentially the same motor. If that bike has sat without running for more than a few months, dollars to donuts you have a carb that's clogged. I'd pull them both and give em a thorough cleaning.
