    float needles

I looked at Z1 float needles selling in packs of 6 for $18.85. Cycle re cycle is selling 4 needles for $20.00. Is Z1 giving 2 extra because of their quality and at a lower price?? Just weird i guess. Any info would be good.

Probably just different suppliers that they got them from. You will see some pretty wild swings on prices between different sellers sometimes. Especially on small stuff.

Your not kidding. I think either old bike barn or bike banditt wanted $11.00 just for (1). Talk about price difference. Thanks though.

        Johnny,

I got the same bike. Can you tell me about your 4-1?

        Thanks.

Bike bandit is great in my opinion for some OEM parts. Probably spent $800 or $900 dollars with them. I have gotten good customer service, but for small bits and pieces that can be found somewhere else, not so good. Don't ever buy OEM fasteners either. They are expensive and relatively crappy quality. Find out the size and use McMaster-Carr.

Yeah, it's a Vance and Hines chrome 4-1.

But they do not make one for an 82. Did you buy the one for the 81? Did you have to do any mods to make it fit?

Can't speak to that specific bike, but unless the head changed (doubt it) it almost certainly fit. Worst case might be moving the muffler mount.

Yes, I have heard the mount is different. When you say move the muffler mount, what does that entail?

Can I get a picture of the mount, Johnny?

Nope, I bought the pipe that is 4-1 Mega GS1100 80-83'. The 1982 GS850 is the same as the 1100 when it comes to that. I got mine from www.motorcycleproshop.com All together it was about $290.00. When I did get it and fit it on, I had to remove my center stand for it to fit properly. I think small price to pay for a nice chrome product to make your look sharp. Hope this helps.

I think the muffler mount is a bolt at the end of the muffler to secure it to the frame on the right side.

Right. The prob I was running into is that the 81 and the 82 have different mounting positions, but now that you mentioned that one, I don't need to worry about it. Sweet!

No prob. Just get urself some pods on those carbs and let your bike "breath". Minus one hell of a time getting your bike to run perfect, but when it does, it is heaven to your ears. Ill get there one day. Im close, but not today close. Im optomistic about it.
