Burnt connectors coming from R/R

    As already stated, I replaced the connectors and have now run the ground directly from the R/R to the neg battery terminal and I think it has worked!

    Prior to all this the bike wasn't passing the voltage test from the stator papers but now is and starts right up where it was struggling before even with a new fully-charged battery.

    Rode like a dream on the way to work today so hopefully that's that.

    A huge thanks to everyone who helped, I'm a happy man and have gone from knowing precisely squat about the bike's electrical system to having a pretty good grasp if I need to troubleshoot problems in the future.

      This is how most of us who replied, learnt what we know. The joy is knowing that you actually chased the problem to a specific spot and a rectified it. Not just a wild repair and job satisfaction guarenteed!
