    Dallas cylinder hone...

Anyone around Dallas,Texas have a cylinder hone I could borrow for a few hours?
Need to hone three sets of cylinders...
I don't want to buy a hone because I already have a nice one at home, unfortunately that's not where my cylinders are at.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Have you checked with any auto parts stores? Many of them rent tools although I'm not sure if cylinder hones are one of the tools they commonly rent.

        A flex-hone is maybe $30 from Goodson's...

Engine building tools and engine building supplies from Goodson Tools & Supplies. Buy engine building tools from Goodson's engine building supply catalog.

If the cylinder dimensions are OK, a flex-hone will quickly put a lovely finish on them, and the rings will seat nicely. Mine has served me well several times.

Auto zone has a loan-a-tool program and should have a 3 blade hone. you pay up front then when you return the tool you get all your money back.

A blade hone is cheap and then you have it in the future. The pricey ones are those bunch of grapes ones. I have only ever used the blade hone, I think I got it a zillion years ago for $15.

Here is a question to ponder, which is better, blade or grapes?

I think a bottle brush hone is better if the bores are worn since a straight hone may bridge over low spots.

I agree, seems to make a better surface without removing as much metal...
