For those interested, Charlie included, those rotors in the picture come off a 1991 Fireblade CBR900RR-N. The very first Fireblade. The calipers look like they are off a Suzuki SV650. This Fireblade rotor is different from the one that I am using, mine is off a 98 model. It has more floating pins (10), mine has 7 and different drilling formation on the disc wear surface.Last edited by Guest; 09-02-2008, 08:03 AM.

Here is another pic from when I was doing the brake swap.
A bit of other work was being done at the time also.
Thanks Don for ID of the discs, I could not remember.

Nice... they might make a straight match with my brackets then for the Kawasaki calipers. What's the offset? Around 18mm?

These discs are about 12mm offset.
I looked at using the single disc lower legs but since they are Handed, left or right that did not seem a proper option.
I first used a set of 750 lowers with 550 upper tubes to keep the length that I wanted. But I then bought a set of GS 1000 forks and bored the triples for the 37mm tubes. I really like this setup better. I do need to install droop limiters so I can keep the front travel close to what the original forks were. One nuisance with the longer droop travel I can not get a proper speedometer cable since it is not as direct routing with these calipers not to mention the brake hoses go tight with full droop. Obviously there are longer cables and hoses available.
If you want to run 320mm discs the brackets for the calipers need some welding anyway so I would either make bolt on brackets or move the mounts on the calipers to where they are needed. Done right they would hardly be seen.

Don,
You'll have problems with the mudguard / fender mounts being on the wrong side if you get another 550 leg....
EBC do some oversized 320mm disks with a 6 bolt pattern. Might also be some others out there on standard models. I used the EBC brake catalogue PDF as a starting point for all this.... you may want to check it out.
Charlie - If that's the case then I think I already have those disks or maybe a later model that's similar - the PCD is different, 74mm instead of 78mm for the holes so you have to enlarge them off centre or re-drill new between the originals on the ones I have.
On mine the small offset is a real problem, you cannot safely run the Kawasaki calipers with the disks stock as you run the risk of the pads falling out. Actually your offset sounds different to what it is on mine. I have had some spacer disks made up to go between the disk & the hub to increase the offset. Hopefully I'll get it bolted up & tested in the next week or so.

If i can figure this out I will post pictures
I use FZR 600 rotors with brembo calipers
The rotors just fit with a little elongation of one or two holes
