I had a bent rim from who knows what. I rode on it for a few years. Maybe 7000 miles. I think it wore on the steering head bearings and soon developed a nasty head shake. No hands was a no go. The Bike would come unglued like right now. I got a complete front wheel, tire, and brake discs (mine were warpped) from a GSR member for $50.

seuadr, I would probably ride around town and not worry too much. Can you coast down a hill with no hands ? Start saving your pennys for that deal thats sure to come your way. I bet theres 100s of those front wheels in the drag racers parts piles.

ya, even at 70 it will go straight down the road with no hands. i don't really like the highway, so very uncommon for me to go 70, i checked it out today, because i just got the tires on and i wanted to see if i still had the wobble. :P

ya, i'm gonna have to find another wheel.

I would check the bead. I just put a 110/90-19 tire on a 100/90-19 stock size tire. (long story on a Make Offer on fleabay) I installed the tire and went for a very short ride the next day. The tire didn't seat. I tried soap, baby powder and then WD-40 which worked. Never had this much trouble installing a tire. Had to be from the wider tire.

it's seated well, and holding air like a champ. we thought it might be leaking faster than normal, because of the tube, it seems to be holding air just fine. of course i'm gonna check it religiously for the next couple months just to be sure.

Check the wheel runout as Lynn suggested. Sometimes mechanics make mistakes so it never hurts to double check before you spend money.

I doubt you will have any trouble running 10 miles a day at regular speeds.

            Good luck.
