Valve cover gasket
have a new valve cover gasket which my son tore...is there something I can mend it with?Tags: None

What's up Harry?
If I were you I would just buy a new one because you don't want to start putting gasket sealer all over the place and have some of the droppings fall in your valve erea.
Peace, Supavert

Maybe mend it with a new son?
I agree with Supavert, it's time for another new gasket. Have the son pay for it.

I'd probably just use a tiny dab of gasket sealer at the tear. As long as you don't have any squeezing into the engine it'll be fine.

No point in wasting riding days. I'd order up a new one, but in the meantime repair the old one with sealer (anything but RTV) and go riding. When you get the new one, replace it.
There's no oil pressure under there, so it's not going to blow out and squirt all over or anything. If it seeps or oozes, at least you tried.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Their is crankcase pressure so it could blow out. Best to get a new gasket. maybe some ? yellow gasket cement- dries hard
