Can that be right? I've seen prices from $16-20 with the silicone reusable ones in the $30-35 range!

$76 for a valve cover gasket?!?
Stopped by Chicago Cycle to pick up a gasket and adjustment tool. They quoted me $76 for a valve cover gasket but the description was " Gasket, Cyl." This is for a 1982 GS750EZ.

Must be for head gasket - even at that, $76 is crazy.Ed
To measure is to know.

Last year I paid $16 plus $5 shipping online(Z1 enterprises I think) for the 1100G's gasket.
So they must be quoting the wrong gasket or they seriously inflate their old bike part prices.
The dealer gasket was better quality and cheaper overall.

Ha ha thats chicago cycle for ya! I try not to buy anything from them. Cool place but unbelievable parts markups (it is a business and business is good). I see the entire gasket set on ebay for less than 50 bucks all the time. Try champion cycle on western and addison in chicago. I go to them sometimes just because the parts guys are much friendlier and they're a bit smaller but not as much of a mark up on everything. Sometimes I wonder how Chicago gets away with those prices. Guess they gotta pay for that huge building they built.

Granted it's from Athena (which I wish I hadn't bought, but didn't know the manufacturer until it got here), but I got a complete rebuild set which includes the cam cover, head gasket, base gasket, breather, tensioner, all 4 exhaust, new o-rings for the intakes, and new valave seals for $61.00.

That sounds about right for a Head Gasket. Not a cam cover gasket.
If you don't have the correct terminology at least get the part #s before ordering parts. With the internet Their is no excuse not to.

Yep, gonna order one online. Funny thing is the drawing the dealership had showed the valve cover gasket but called it the head gasket. Different part numbers, guess who I'm not buying from again?
