Carb reassembly

Should I coat the brass pieces with a light oil or something as I reassemble the carbs to facilitate removal later on?

i think the petrol would eventually wash off the oil on most of the jets/parts
the exemptions would be only the pilot mixture screws and the pilot air jets

I agree, I know that almost anything would get washed off by the gasoline, even the vapors would remove most of the coating. As I needed to use an easy-out on one of the pilot jets, I wondered if this might stop this potential later.

I recommended it to LUBRICATE the threads to prevent issues with sticking or galling. Things always screw in easier with a lubricant. Ray.

I had an incident when re-assembling my choke plungers. I didn't lub. them with oil and when i got it running all 4 chokes ( I think all of them) were stuck. Had to disassemble them again and oiled them. After that they worked great!

The thing that needs lubing is the new O-rings; they can tear during install without a little lubrication. Mineral oil works well or silicone oil since it's good for rubber.
