They don't have BT45's in the right size as far as I can see at AMT although that's what they recommended as well (or a Lasertec at $110!)

Finally got a front off Ebay (Bill's link, the guy has 17 left) & rear off AMT with both tubes. Final cost about $145 shipped. Prob overpaid on shipping by about $15 but not the end of the world. Still cheaper than JCW (their tube prices were awful).

The lasertecs might be pricey...but they have been holding up really well on my 750. Im running a 130 on the back and a 110/90-19 (with no front fender...which kinda sucks...haha)

My 110 actually rubbed the fender until I took 10 psi out of the tire to 30.

If you like a tire to give feedback when cornering try the Dunlop 591. Just because it says Harley doesn't mean anything. Harley currently makes more bikes than anyone with a 19" front. We're fortunate to get modern compounds in this size tire.

The BT45 I tried on my wife's 1150 is the worst tire I ever bought. I was looking for a Michelin Macadam 16", but was backordered for 6 months.
          GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

I just ordered a set of avon roadriders for my bike through Tires unlimited, should see them Monday. I have dealt with them in past, good prices, never had problem, and shipped quickly.

I asked about the Cheng shin Hi Max and was quoted they had 6 rears in stock. They will not be getting more as TCK noted. They say the Kendas are getting hard to keep in stock since Cheng shin out of business.

On my 650, I had very little fender clearance with 100/90-19 front, went with stock 3.25-19 this time. Also dropped from 130/90 to 120/90 in rear. Hopefully they will mount easy.

              I didn't like them either.

my front metzeler slips at 32psi but holds really well at 28psi

why would you run 40psi in the front

Dunlop GT501s are available although they're a little pricey, run you around $90.00. I've got the 100/90 x 19 on my GS1000 and am really impressed with it. Grips great when pushed hard in the corners without any feeling like the front wants to push or run wide. On a lighter 550 it should work even better. The 130/80 x 18 rear seems to be getting good mileage, I've got about 4,000 miles on it with about 2,500 of that being high speed cruising in hot temps and it appears to be just over 1/2 worn. I think a lot people overlook these because of price but they sure do seem to work.

One thing you've got to ask yourself on these screamin' E-Bay deals is "How old is this tire?" The tire may have been sitting on a shelf for five years. Just 'cause it's never been on a bike doesn't mean it's a good tire.

I always ran my GT501s at 40psi. Better gas milege and longetivity. I bought the wrong size tire off Fleabay and put about 70 in it to get the bead to set. I had one heck of a time with it. Ended up using WD-40 to get it to bead.
