I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My sediment bowl plug on my float bowl has had a leak from all 4 bowls for quite a stretch. I did a rough job on a carb clean and have now got 4 new carb kits. Question is what kind of o-ring should I be using on the sediment plug, I have been replacing with an o-ring from a regular automotive store O-ring kit, o-ring. I think they are a Buna. Is there a better o-ring to put there or should there even be a ring there?
Thanks

Pretty hard to judge since you haven't provided any information about the type of bike, what part of the world you live in, and year of the bike.

In general, buna-N O-rings are okay for use on the carbs. Floatbowl drain plugs sometimes use a plastic washer type seal and not an O-ring so particulars matter.

Standard procedure around here is to get an O-ring kit from cycleorings.com and skip the rebuild kits which are unnecessary and not recommended from the standpoint of replacing the Mikuki jets with aftermarket parts.

Oh, and don't forget to replace your carb boot O-rings while the carbs are off if your carbs have them.

 A quick fix can sometimes be effected by removing the offending plug and wrapping the threads with a few turns of Teflon plumbers tape. That will stop the leak at least until the next time the plug is removed.

Sorry

Sorry

Its on a 77 GS750 with VM carbs, I got the bike for next to nothing and have slowly been repairing. I have been taking the carbs off quite regularly as the carbs keep seeping gas. I hope that after ther rebuild and I set the floats to the right level I will end majority of the leak but on at least 2 carbs it is leaking out of the plug and I keep replacing the oring which lasts for about 3 days before the leak starts again. I will also be rebuilding the petcock as it does not function properly.
