Quick Fuel Line Question..
What is the diameter and length of a fuel line for the 1982 GS650. Also, I need to order an inline fuel filter right? If so which end should I put it in. Thanks in advance so much.Tags: None

Ahh, two grey area questions. I personally run the 5/16" blue polyurethane type fuel line. Some here use 1/4" line. You will also get many opinions on in line filters. I have read here that car type inline filters are set up for more pressure and could fuel starve you and that mower / gravity feed type filters are better for the GS's since they are set up for low pressure / gravity feed. For the line length if your old one has enough slack just copy the length from what you have, otherwise mount it to the carb inlet first and trim to the length you need. Too much slack is not good since you can kink the line.82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg

Thanks, is there any procedure I need to follow to not get gas all over the place when I replace the line?

Make sure the petcock is not on prime. You should not get any leaking fuel from the tank in the on or reserve positions. Put a rag over the carbs, you will get some fuel dripping from the line and petcock when you detach it from the tank.82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg
